Post on Facebook from the Easley (SC) Area Museum: William Milliken Hagood, Sr. (1850-1927), (2)James Earle Hagood,(1) Benjamin Hagood) one of Easley's dynamic citizens whose life and work was dedicated to the advancement of our town, was remembered on Thursday, June 15, 2017 by the Museum, along with descendants of Mr. Hagood, friends of the Hagood Family and community members. With special thanks to Beth Hagood who provided this opportunity in memory of her late husband, William Milliken Hagood, III, EAM unveiled and rededicated a marble monument and water fountai n that was originally place near the main entrance to Glenwood Mill on Hagood Street, as a testament to Mr. Hagood's influence on Easley's economy and the textile industry. With appreciation to the Hagood Family, Mayor Larry Bagwell, and all who attended, the Easley Area Museum is pleased to add this wonderful example to community pride to our collections.  Below is the Prayer of Dedication given by Ginna Li...

New Museum open in Easley, SC

Birthplace of many of our HAGOOD kin,at Easley, Pickens County, South Carolina:  On June 15, 2017, the new Easley Museum had a ceremony for the dedication of the WILLIAM MILLIKEN HAGOOD fountain that was moved to the Museum's location.  A similar monument was moved the the Hagood-Mauldin House in Pickens, SC, honoring WILLIAM MILLIKEN HAGOOD a number of years ago.  When the news release about the ceremony is released it will be posted on this blog.  
This is my first post and I hope to create a replacement for the hardcopy Hagood Newsletter that I published for a number of years.  I am experimenting as a Blogger and when I become a bit more proficient will send notice to all family members for whom I have an email address.  Hope to be up with some interesting news very soon.  Best, Gary Hagood Brightwell
