Post on Facebook from the Easley (SC) Area Museum:

William Milliken Hagood, Sr. (1850-1927), (2)James Earle Hagood,(1) Benjamin Hagood) one of Easley's dynamic citizens whose life and work was dedicated to the advancement of our town, was remembered on Thursday, June 15, 2017 by the Museum, along with descendants of Mr. Hagood, friends of the Hagood Family and community members. With special thanks to Beth Hagood who provided this opportunity in memory of her late husband, William Milliken Hagood, III, EAM unveiled and rededicated a marble monument and water fountain that was originally place near the main entrance to Glenwood Mill on Hagood Street, as a testament to Mr. Hagood's influence on Easley's economy and the textile industry. With appreciation to the Hagood Family, Mayor Larry Bagwell, and all who attended, the Easley Area Museum is pleased to add this wonderful example to community pride to our collections.
Below is the Prayer of Dedication given by Ginna Lister of Easley Presbyterian Church at the ceremony.
"Loving and Gracious God,
We come together on this beautiful day to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and to dream for the future.
We give you thanks for the life and work of W. M. Hagood, who through his life of service helped to make this community a better place to live and to work.
We give thanks for his vision to create work places where many not only found jobs, but created lasting friendships. Work places, which contributed much to the fabric of this place, we call Easley.
Today, we celebrate the present where community leaders, dignitaries, Hagood family members, friends and neighbors gather to re-dedicate this beautiful monument in honor of and in memory of Billy Hagood for his legacy and his life well lived. Like his great-grandfather before him, Billy wished to help make all things around him better for others to benefit and enjoy. The waters that flow from this fountain will serve as a gathering place that will be appreciated for generations to come.
We dream for the future of the Easley Area Museum. Dreams for it to be a place where stories are told, memories are shared and history is preserved.
Most of all Lord God, we rest assured knowing that even though things around us may change, that you are the same: yesterday, today and forever.
In the name of Christ we pray, Amen."
